In the state of California, it is by law that a person getting tattooed must be 18 years or older. This means even if a person is a minor no a parent or guardian cannot sign for them! Violation of this law includes:
*up to 6 months imprisonment
*a maximum fine $1,000
*losing license
If a parent or adult consents to a minor being tattooed, there is a possibility of them also being charged with child endangerment.
Piercings are legal with parental consent as long as all parties have I.D. and verification of guardianship. However, piercings in “private” areas are still illegal until the age of 18 or older.
All of my clients must be ready for their tattoo appointments with a valid I.D.! This includes your drivers license, passport, or military I.D. No, a high school I.D will not be accepted. The Health Department also requires all clients sign a release form before the appointment. You will be given a chance to read the information on the form prior to getting tattooed as well as receiving an after care sheet.
